PV yield assessment

A robust yield forecast combines suitable solar resource data, realistic plant modelling and transparent evaluation of loss factors. SolPEG yield assessments are used as a bankable technical basis for project development, financing and investment decisions.

Results and assumptions are documented so the forecast remains technically transparent and reviewable by third parties. More about PV yield assessments →

Request a PV yield assessment ↗

  • Site-specific selection and weighting of suitable solar resource data
  • Simulation using independent professional tools
  • Detailed loss analysis and transparent assumptions
  • P50/P90 evaluations and uncertainty analysis according to project requirements
  • Plausibility review of components, geometry and system design
  • Identification of technical optimisation potential
02

Glare & reflection studies

Reflections from PV modules can be relevant in particular near roads, railways, airports and sensitive neighbouring uses. SolPEG evaluates potential glare on a project-specific basis using the recommendations, guidance and authority requirements relevant to the receptor.

There is no single generally binding standardised procedure for PV glare assessment. Depending on the permitting and receptor context, we consider in particular the German LAI guidance on light immissions and, for federal trunk roads, the requirements and guidance paper of the Federal Trunk Road Authority (FBA).

Request a glare assessment ↗

  • Geometric analysis of module surfaces and relevant receptors
  • Time-based evaluation of potential reflection events
  • Consideration of plant geometry, topography, solar position and lines of sight
  • Assessment for residential and working areas, transport routes and other sensitive receptors
  • Consideration of LAI recommendations and project-specific authority requirements
  • For federal trunk roads: assessment in the context of FBA requirements for road safety and traffic flow
  • Assessment of possible mitigation measures and transparent documentation for design and permitting
03

Site & shading

Shading and local conditions are not treated as blanket loss factors; they are modelled and assessed according to their relevance to the project.

Request a site & shading analysis ↗

  • Horizon and near-shading analysis
  • 3D modelling of relevant obstacles
  • Assessment of row spacing and plant geometry
  • Site visit where project-specific needs require it
  • Comparison of design, model and site conditions
04

Review of existing assessments

For financing, acquisitions or technical reviews, we also evaluate existing yield assessments and simulations with respect to data basis, methodology and plausibility.

Request a report review ↗

  • Plausibility review of solar resource and weather data
  • Review of loss assumptions and system parameters
  • Comparison with our own project experience and alternative methods
  • Identification of material technical sensitivities
  • Clear documentation of open points and risks
05

Concept & feasibility

Our feasibility work combines site assessment, plant concept and yield perspective into a technical feasibility evaluation during early project phases. Where a full yield assessment is not yet required, we also provide compact yield simulations and preliminary estimates.

Request concept & feasibility support ↗

  • Assessment of site-specific technical constraints
  • Shading, terrain, orientation and usable plant area
  • Plausibility review of layout, system concept and component assumptions
  • Compact yield simulations and yield-oriented comparison of technical options
  • Documentation of key assumptions, risks and optimisation potential
